Though this is a black and white photo, you know there aren’t too many colours being used here. This could be monotone, as in the pic, or it could be 2 colour.

I, Kinxi, will now pick my top 5 unusual locations for tattoos for women.

As a designer, I am always on the lookout for new, fresh and truly unique ideas and images. I have to say that I get down when I see women getting the same old same old butterfly and fairy tattoos (blech – fairies on an adult? It scares me, people. Scares me big time.)

But remember, tattoo designs aren’t the only thing you have to think about. Don’t forget about tattoo location.

Your Side

The side is a great place for large tattoos. Think tall – a tattoo up the side will draw the eye upward. Here’s a stunning tree tattoo perfectly fitting this woman’s side. Doesn’t she look tall? And majestic?

Foot tattoos

The feet are traditionally tough to tattoo because of the wear and tear on your foot. But still, with care, they can be done and so you will see more and more foot tattoos abounding. Check out this playful sweet daisy chain tattoo.

Stomach tattoos

Tattoos on the stomach were originally only worn by male prisoners. But no more. Women are claiming this territory for themselves. Check out these illustrations of stomach tattoo ideas for women.

Hand Tattoos

The hands are another high maintenance area, but some tattoo artists are making hand tattoos their specialty.

If you don’t want to go with a permanent on your hands, try a temporary tattoo using henna. It is a natural dye that many women use traditionally to create beautiful ornate patterns on their hands before important ceremonies. Finger Tattoos

Having wedding bands tattooed on your fingers is becoming more popular. The permanence of a tattoo lends itself perfectly for this use. Or, try show off your full hand of tattoos like this poker lover does. Once again, prone to blur and fade, but still, with care, a fun place to get a tattoo.

Stomach Tattoos Show Off Your Abs And Curves

What great stomach tattoos. This is actually an illustration called “Curves and butterflies” by Darks Adria. But what a great way to test out a tattoo design idea.

You can draw your stomach tattoo idea on a photo or graphic. Then test it out with temporary tattoo inks or henna kits.

The stomach is particularly challenging because it is a large area. Make sure you play with your tattoo sizing so that it doesn’t look too small, or too large.

The stomach is also a tough place for the tattoo artist to work as the skin isn’t very taut and it is tough to make it do so. Make sure your tattoo artist is experienced – and that you wear very loose fitting clothes after getting your stomach tattooed.

On the groovy side – stomach tattoos were usually for the men alone, so this is a hot place for women to get one.
