Have a message to tell the world? Declare it to the world with a stomach tattoo.

This stomach has an important message to share - “emancipate yourself from mental slavery.” Its a Bob Marley Lyric.

I think it would be funny for your stomach tattoo to say ” Emancipate yourself from pants.”

Still, if your forte is not comedy, a beautiful quote written across your stomach makes a really cool tattoo design.

There are lots of sites on the Internet that have gathered famous quotes and put them up for you to search through. Or, you can search for the lyrics of your favourite song on the web, and put the line up that resonates most with you.

You can also put up a quote in another language. Or better, use an alphabet from another language. How about that - a mysterious belly.

This Chinese Tattoo Designs web site is for you. They will they translate any phrase you want into Chinese and also design the tattoo character.

Just make sure your tattoo artist doesn’t tattoo it backwards or upside down. Read this  - “Vital Mistakes Of Chinese Tattoos & How To Avoid Them.

Summer is made for foot tattoos. Tattoos that were hitherto hidden are now bared and let loose for the world to see. That goes for foot tattoos, freed from the socks and shoes that keep them covered all year long, it’s time for your feet to shine.

Foot tattoos are a fun area to play with. When choosing a tattoo, you don’t want to be in a hurry.

Try downloading a design from an online tattoo gallery that gives you unlimited downloads. Then use henna to tattoo your pattern onto your foot. Henna tattoos are a great way to test drive a tatto, as they are temporary.

Show your foot tattoo around town. How do you feel? are you ok with the reaction you are getting? Do you think you’ll like the tattoo when you are 64? Better. Then go take that printable tattoo design to your local tattoo parlor.

The moral of the story? Test drive your tattoo design!

Ahh. This is one hot tribal shoulder tattoo design, and the way it extends to the back is super HOT. That means appealing. Sexy.

Here are a few things that I find hot about this tattoo, and you might want to think about if you are getting a tatoo:

  • The tattoo design is asymmetrical. Remember - symmetry is sucky. This is because it is safe. Safe is not memorable. Safe is…well…unadventurous and quite a bit chicken. Safer is dull, mainstream and the majority. If you are getting a tattoo, why be safe?
  • The tattoo design is strong. It’s screams boldness and strength. Once again, I repeat my fave mantra “go big or go home.” This is not a rule, but one of those little reminders, a check point to ask yourself when you are doing something creative. It is that extra bit that will push you further - to the “edge” - and perhaps inspire great art. Getting a tattoo is a creative endeavor. Be creative. Be great.
  • The tattoo design is simple yet says a lot. That’s the beauty of tribal tattoos - their artistry has been worked over the ages, and so they’ve had time to get it right. Trust your elders! Yet be of your time. How easy is that? Not so easy. But this tattoo design did it.

Take your time choosing your tattoo design! The Internet is made for helping you choose tattoos.…by giving you the time to choose tattoos at home at your leisure.

We love this tattoo of a heart on your hip. Have you heard of the phrase “go big or go home?” This heart tattoo lives it.

Go big or go home basically means if you are going to do something, commit to it. Committing means locking the door - there is no way out. It means firmly doing something, and doing it to the fullest.

I like to use this mantra when doing things creative - well actually - when doing anything. It’s the difference between really going for it, vs holding back. It’s being 100%.

How can you apply this mantra to your tattoo design? When choosing your design think to yourself, am I going big? Or am I being safe and chicken.

Now don’t get me wrong. It’s ok to be safe and chicken. If you are putting a tiny heart tattoo on your ankle, and that’s truly what you want - go ahead. But know that that’s one of the most popular and mainstream ideas out there. You aren’t really expressing yourself are you. You are just being like everyone else. Apply the mantra Go Big or Go Home - which means really put a heart tattoo on my ankle - and you might make it bigger. Or change the color of the heart. Or use a stylized heart. Or add 2 hearts. Or 3. Or a chain of hearts.

This gal realized that she was not going to be amongst the masses. So instead of a sucky tiny heart tattoo somewhere regular, like on an ankle, or the front side of a hip, we have this great, huge, loosely drawn asymmetric heart on the back of her hip. I give her 10 extra points for positioning this heart tattoo so asymmetrically. Now this is original.

How bold! How grand.

I am starting to absolutely adore side tattoos. The more I see them, the more I think the side of the torso is my favorite place for a tattoo. Apart from being an unusual and unique location for a tattoo for women, their discreteness shows a certain strength of character. Kind of like “I don’t need to blast my egotism out loud and at you. I can keep mine in check.”

This cherry blossom tattoo is especially gorgeous. It has a beautiful naturalness - and elegance, and an air of the east about it. The eastern cultures revere cherry blossoms though they haft often subscribed different meanings to the flower.  In China the cherry blossom symbolizes feminine beauty while in Japan the cherry blossoms take on a grander scare and are symbols of the  transient nature of life, due to their short blooming cycle. That’s  big stuff, people.

Once again I believe that side tattoos look great when they are vertical. This cherry blossom tattoo vine is growing up the side and elongates the body.

Remember, tattoo regret is pretty common, so take your time when choosing your tattoos. That’s why joining an online Tattoo Design gallery is a great idea. They allow you to browse from home at your leisure, so - there’s no rushing when it comes to choosing your tattoo. No rushing = so less chance of regretting your decision. And 25% of people regret their tattoos. That’s a lot people!

This pretty foot tattoo caught our eye not only because it is super pretty with it’s loose vine structure, but also because it mimics a thong. Not underwear thong -  Flip Flops!

We love foot tattoos, they are a great place to have tattoos - discreet, playful. But remember to do all your research about the complexities involved of foot tattoos. Some locations are tougher than others for tattoos, and the foot is one of them. There’s lots of small bones in your feet that make getting a foot tattoo rather painful, and the  rubbing of your shoe against your foot willl cause wear and tear on your foot tattoo design. That can mean it will fade faster, so might require touchups.

Remember, tattoo regret is pretty common, so take your time when choosing your tattoos. That’s why investing in lifetime memberships with Tattoo galleries is a great idea - there’s no rushing when it comes to choosing your tattoo - so less chance of regretting your decision.

Here are some tips when it comest to choosing your tattoo:

It used to be you had to go the tattoo parlour and scour their walls or books and portfolios to look through hundreds of tattoos in their collection. This was time consuming. And maybe a tad intimidating. You know, worried that the tattoo artist and his pals are snickering behind your back. Or there’s a line up behind you  so you feel rushed.

But now you can choose the tattoo design you want in the privacy of your own home. More and more there are online tattoo companies that allow you to browse their tattoo designs online. Better yet they offer unlimited tattoo designs to print out - perfect for those who want more than one tattoo.

  • Put time and energy into researching and choosing your tattoo. Tattoo regret is a big deal. Tattoo removal is expensive and painful - and worst of all, it leaves an ugly scar.
  • Now is not the time to save money. Don’t cheap out on something that will last a lifetime. Go for an experienced artist and a high quality tattoo design. It may cost more, but over the long run of your life, you will see that a tree tattoo design may be no bargain.
  • Take your time. Don’t let anyone rush you.
  • Download printable tattoo designs that you can print out to test your design. Some tattoo sites will even allow you to print a temporary tattoo.
  • Show your friends the tattoo design you printed out. Can you live with their reactions?
  • Take your printed tattoo design to your tattoo artist and talk about it with him/her. It might not be suitable for the area of your choice. Or, you may want to modify it.
  • Check out the meaning of your tattoo to make sure it will match your personal philosophy.
  • There’s nothing worse than rushing your tattoo choice. Take your time when choosing your tattoo - remember, you are going to have to love it the rest of your life.

I, Kinxi, will now pick my top 5 unusual locations for tattoos for women.

As a designer, I am always on the lookout for new, fresh and truly unique ideas and images. I have to say that I get down when I see women getting the same old same old butterfly and fairy tattoos (blech - fairies on an adult? It scares me, people. Scares me big time.)

But remember, tattoo designs aren’t the only thing you have to think about. Don’t forget about tattoo location.

Have you thought about these places on your body for your next tattoo?

Your Side

The side is a great place for large tattoos. Think tall - a tattoo up the side will draw the eye upward. Here’s a stunning tree tattoo perfectly fitting this woman’s side. Doesn’t she look tall? And majestic?

Foot tattoos

The feet are traditionally tough to tattoo because of the wear and tear on your foot. But still, with care, they can be done and so you will see more and more foot tattoos abounding. Check out this playful sweet daisy chain tattoo.

Stomach tattoos

Tattoos on the stomach were originally only worn by male prisoners. But no more. Women are claiming this territory for themselves. Check out these illustrations of stomach tattoo ideas for women.

Hand Tattoos

The hands are another high maintenance area, but some tattoo artists are making hand tattoos their specialty.

If you don’t want to go with a permanent on your hands, try a temporary tattoo using henna. It is a natural dye that many women use traditionally to create beautiful ornate patterns on their hands before important ceremonies. Try a henna kit and invite your friends over for a henna hand tattoo party

Finger Tattoos

Having wedding bands tattooed on your fingers is becoming more popular. The permanence of a tattoo lends itself perfectly for this use. Or, try show off your full hand of tattoos like this poker lover does. Once again, prone to blur and fade, but still, with care, a fun place to get a tattoo.

Hopefully this will help you get your creative juices flowing.

This flower tattoo on the ankle is super cute. The color is vibrant and bright, and the flower has an “old tyme” style about it - a daisy from years gone by - yet however looks modern. Older styles like this that have endured the test of time are a good idea for tattoos. You don’t want your tattoo to go out of style (for long. LOL.)

The ankle is a very popular location for tattoos for women. This is because it is in an area that is discreet. You can choose to cover it with clothing, or show it off. It also shows off the leg nicely.

Flowers are a popular theme on the ankle, as are butterflies and fairies. While these feminine tattoos are very common, more and more women are breaking away and getting more adventurous with their tattoos, by choosing either more unusual tattoo designs, or less common locations.

Remember, tattoo regret is pretty common. That’s why a lifetime memberships with a Tattoo gallery is a great idea - there’s no rushing when it comes to choosing your tattoo.
